Altec Lansing horn driver 3 pack | eBay
Bet on one thing- an audio dealer with 800+ feedbacks is NOT selling them untested. A C-note says all 3 are blown. Still, may go reasonable.

Your neighbors called. They like your music.
Ironically, or not, those are painted the same color as an 815 cabinet that was sold out of that general region some time ago.
FWIW, i don't dispute your suspicions OG. But, i'm also aware that with the whole ebay/paypal field being slanted so heavily in favor of the buyer the seller may just be trying to avoid having a refund/dispute scenario. As you can clearly see everywhere, ethics are no longer part of our socio-economic system.
Even if the 288's are blown, they may go fairly cheap (as OG mentioned) and still be worth grabbing. BTW, AB, regarding your new signature--nice (close) game Sunday. Glad to see that it wasn't a Superbowl blowout, and as a New York State native, I'm not too unhappy about the outcome!![]()
Being of "Sound" Mind
Just below the title of the auction the seller says... "For parts or Not Working".
That's being pretty upfront in my book, so why all the ethical questions regarding the seller?
They're labeled as untested. Something as simple to test as a driver isn't likely going to go untested by an audio dealer. They probably don't work, or have had the diaphragms removed. "Untested" gives the impression that it's unknown and could be fine, and therefore could get a higher price if someone's willing to take the bait and gamble. Sure the buyer chooses to gamble, but the game shouldn't be set against him. If I sell something as being untested, it will be untested. Testing and finding a non-functioning item and calling it untested to provide deniabilty is dishonest.

So what if the seller bought them with the knowledge they were blown drivers? I'd list them as "for parts, not working", and I'd not have a need to test them myself if they were known to be blown. With the info the seller has provided anyone buying them expecting them to work is not reading properly.
Me neither,me Neither ! Was a good game.Got to like Eli's bringing the team back in the fourth quarter 8 times this season.Super Bowl was no exception.
On the 288's they look to be later model 288C's.I have both early and later models the only difference on the outside of driver is the name on the rear cover is different and the seal is different.Early ones had a rope thread seal and the latter had a rubber O-ring seal. Here is an example of an early and late.
First is early second pic is the latter production runs.

One other thing I would like to add. His moniker on eBay is "Audio Deal Finder" ! What are the chances that he wouldn't have tested them fully ? IMHO Slim to None...
If audio is his business then you have to assume he would have tested them before selling to avoid letting those diamonds in the rough slip through his fingers for pennies on the dollar. Most members here have been watching Ebay & Craigslist,etc.. for a longtime. And can usually pick up these subtle things.
